This year, OMPH School’s Lenten theme is “Building Our Faith Through Action.” The theme reminds us that our loving words and actions during Lent lead us to Jesus. Throughout the school year, students have been using their eyes, ears, lips, hands, hearts and minds to build our community of faith. The children offer help when seeing someone in need in class or on the recess yard. They listen when a friend is feeling down, and offer words of kindness to comfort them. Our students love others and are forgiving to those who have wronged them. Most importantly, in the silence of their hearts, the children offer prayers for their families and classmates who are sick, injured, or otherwise in need. During Lent, our students will continue these acts of kindness, keeping in mind that when they are reaching out to others, they are reaching out to Jesus. Our school community will put the Three Pillars of Lent—prayer, sacrifice and almsgiving—into practice as we help to build God’s kingdom on Earth.
